PBR Teams’ Kansas City Outlaws Win both Head Coach and Executive of the Year

Head Coach J.W. Hart and General Manager Jim Smith Honored with Awards in New York City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Outlaws Head Coach J.W. Hart and General Manager Jim Smith were awarded the Head Coach and Executive of the Year awards for their management of the team during the 2024 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Camping World Team Series season.

Head Coach J.W. Hart Wins Head Coach of the Year

Through the first three years, Smith assembled an incredible roster, including drafting 2024 PBR World Champion Cassio Dias in 2023. In addition, Smith acquired Sandro Batista from the Carolina Cowboys in September of 2023 for draft capital. During the 2024 season, Batista became the most valuable leadoff rider in the sport, going an incredible 22-for-33 (66.67%) and finishing third in the MVP race.

On top of the chutes, Hart continued to get the most out of his riders, making the decision to move Batista into the leadoff role and masterfully orchestrating the team’s lineup. Under the PBR Iron Man, Kansas City led the league in qualified riders (83), riding percentage (52.2%), 90-point rides (7), and Shootout Round Rides (10) throughout the 2024 season. The Outlaws were also the only team with three riders in the Top 10 of the MVP standings, and the team recorded at least one win at all thirteen events en route to finishing first in the regular season with a 19-9 record.
