KANSAS CITY, Mo. (July 27, 2023) – The Kansas City Outlaws, one of two Missouri-based professional bull riding teams competing in the groundbreaking PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Teams League, today announced a new-forged partnership with Children’s Mercy Kansas City, uniting with the leading independent children's health organization to create memorable programming and raise funds around the team’s upcoming homestand at T-Mobile Center from Aug. 3-5.

“The Kansas City Outlaws are committed to giving back to the community that has welcomed us with such open arms, and we couldn’t think of a more fitting partner than Children’s Mercy,” said Lennie Foree, President of the Kansas City Outlaws. “The Children’s Mercy organization annually shapes the lives of hundreds of thousands of children across the country, with an emphasis on family-centered care, and we can only hope that the Outlaws family can help them further their incredible work. By also joining forces with our incredible partners at Jack Stack Barbecue we think that Outlaws Days will not only be a can’t miss event for the community, but also a marquee fundraising moment for Children’s Mercy.”

“Children’s Mercy relies on the generosity of partners like PBR to bring joy and healing to kids in and out of the hospital,” said Jenea Oliver, Chief Development Officer at Children’s Mercy. “It’s particularly special when the community joins together to rally around kids in the region who come to Children’s Mercy seeking world-class medical care.”

During their second-annual home event, the Outlaws will welcome several members of Children’s Mercy’s F.L.E.E.T. (Fulfilling Life Experiences Electronic Team) including REX (Robotic EXperience), to give hospitalized patients an up-close, virtual experience with the Western lifestyle on Saturday, Aug. 5. Actively engaging through an iPad, these experiences are brought directly to a patient’s room through one of the F.L.E.E.T. robots.

Interactive moments patients will experience through F.L.E.E.T. include being a part of the team’s official send off, joining the Outlaws in the lockeroom prior to their game, meeting several of the league’s powerful bovine athletes, and more.

The Outlaws have also joined forces with Jack Stack Barbecue to raise funds for Children’s Mercy. On Aug. 2, patrons can purchase the Children’s Mercy Special for $50 featuring pork spareribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, fire-kissed wings and four classic sides with 20% of sales directly benefiting Children’s Mercy.

“We are excited by the opportunity to partner with the KC Outlaws, and to do this work in support of Children’s Mercy Hospital,” said Travis Carpenter, CEO at Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue. Also on Aug. 2, the Outlaws will hold a fan-forward official team dinner from 5-7 p.m. in benefit of Children’s Mercy at the Jack Stack Barbecue Freight House location at 101 West 22nd Street.

The fundraising initiative with Jack Stack Barbeque is an extension of the restaurant’s presence in the Outlaw Days Festival, held in partnership with the Power & Light District from Aug. 3-5, which will take over 14th Street and Grand Street. Jack Stack Barbecue will be prominently featured on Sat., Aug. 5 holding a chat with one of their accomplished pitmasters, complete with sampling, at 2pm, followed by the Jack Stack Barbeque Eating Competition at 3:30pm. The competition will include a fan representative from each of the PBR Team’s eight founding teams going head-to-head for a prize pack including a $250 Jack Stack Barbecue gift card, custom Kansas City Outlaws hat and buckle, Creed Humphrey-autographed merchandise and more. Earlier this summer, the Kansas City Chief’s Super Bowl Champion starting center Humphrey was announced as the team’s Official Fan Ambassador and Chief of Outlaw Attitude.

Complimenting the external fundraising initiatives, which will be accompanied by in-arena pushes during the three-night Outlaw Days event inside T-Mobile Center, the Kansas City professional bull riding team will also make a $10,000 donation to Children’s Mercy.

The bull riding action for the 2023 PBR Camping World Team Series’ Outlaw Days at T-Mobile Center begins at 7:45 p.m. CT on Thursday, August 3 and Friday, August 4, and 6:45 p.m. CT on Saturday, August 5.

Tickets for the event are on sale now, and start at $20, taxes and fees not included. They can be purchased online at AXS.com, PBR.com, kansascityoutlaws.com and t-mobilecenter.com, or by calling PBR customer service at 1-800-732-1727.

Three-day ticket packages are available, offering fans a 15% discount on select price levels. Surrounding the competition inside T-Mobile Center, the team will host the three-day Outlaw Days Festival from Aug. 3-5. The free-to-attend, family-friendly street festival, held in partnership with the Power & Light District, will take over 14th Street and Grand Street, while also bringing programming to two stages – the PBR’s mobile Tractor Supply Co. Stage and the fan-favorite stage within KC Live!. The Outlaw Days Festival will celebrate the modern cowboy by day, bringing eventgoers an immersive experience filled with bulls, barbeque, and beer, before transitioning into a disco cowboy extravaganza by night.
